University of Wales, Newport, is one of the major educational institutions in the United Kingdom which has been involved in higher education for more than 80 years. It has a student body of 9,000 of which half of them are part-time students and has diverse range of courses to cater for the needs of most people. The University has top-rated school of Arts, Media and Design, and highly rated Business School.


The Times Higher Educational Supplement has put the University of Wales, in the top 10 universities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland for student satisfaction. The business, management and accountancy courses on offer at Newport were given top marks by the Quality Assurance Agency in 2002. Primary Initial teacher training at the University, both undergraduate and postgraduate was designated as 'Excellent' by the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales in 2000.

In 2007 National Student Survey placed Newport Business School top in Wales and joint top in the UK for student satisfaction in Business subjects. The School was also top in Wales and the UK for assessment and feedback, whilst coming top in Wales for teaching, organisation and management, learning resources and academic support. This result continues the trend of the last three years.
